GOD’S WAY of measuring greatness is different from the way man measures greatness. To the people of the world, greatness means acquisition and accumulation of properties, money, degrees. But greatness in the kingdom of God is measured differently. Discover the true meaning of greatness in this inspiring piece.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted —Mtt. 23:10-12.
THE WAY PEOPLE measure greatness is always different from the way God measures greatness. Have you ever noticed that? For instance, a person is considered to be great by the world’s standard, if he amasses wealth, builds many houses, uses a fleet of cars and what have you.
Also, someone is considered to be great by people, if they acquire myriads of academic degrees or have a high social status. However, the way God views greatness is contrary to all of these. As far as God is concerned, a man is only great if he lives his life for the service of others.
That was what Jesus talked about in Matthew 23:10-12 as quoted in our text above. You are only considered to be great if you can make tremendous, unforgettable, and godly impacts, on human lives by the power of God.
In other words, true greatness consists in yielding yourself to God as an instrument that changes people’s lives for God with the resources at your disposal.
CONFESSION: I understand the true meaning of greatness. I will use the resources at my disposal for the benefit of mankind. I will be God’s instrument in changing people’s lives for the better.
